A list of one shilling supporters

Generous supporters and fundraisers are invaluable in helping charities ensure that their ambitious plans are put into place, and this was no different in the 1830s.

Here we have a list of supporters who made donations to Thomas Lucas in 1836, to help him publish bibles in Lucas Type to teach blind young people in Bristol to read.

It was through this help that he was able to take his work to London two years later.
